A great idea for a busy Mom on a rainy day or while your are cooking dinner is to place a small jigsaw puzzle out for your children.  Not only will it keep them occupied while your tasks are being completed, but they are fun, creative, enhance logic and manage to work BOTH sides of the brain.  As a long time teacher, this news is a great! In my opinion, seeing a child put down an electronic device to complete a task that encourages learning is a win/win situation.

I've walked into countless libraries where jigsaw puzzles are out on a table and random people are working them.  Almost as if jigsaw puzzles are contageous, people flock toward them.  Jigsaws are wonderful natural conversation starters as puzzles are known to stimulate social interactions and provide for great team work activities.

Jigsaw puzzles can also save on utility bills.  If your lights go out due to that terrible summer or winter storm, no problem.  Bring out a candle and gather the family to pass the time.  Not only are they great for family interaction, they also help older members of the family who may be suffering from Alzheimer's to recognize family members.  This is where Personalized Photo Jigsaw Puzzles shine!

So the next time your walking in a toy store, don't pass the jigsaw puzzles.  They are worth the buy for many reasons.
